I don´t know where to start actually, I don´t know what to say. So many things happened. I wanna tell everything, but I don´t know about the stuff i´ll write down is bla bla for you guys. Everything was so important to me, but I don´t know what´s relevant for you. But I write this down for me too, I don´t wanna forget a single damn thing that happened last weekend so you might read a lot of details in this blog, it’s probably gonna be a huge one. sorry about that.
Guess i´ll just start at the beginning…
Fridaynight
So. Fridaynight, Bruno Mars Steet Team on Facebook announced they would give away some tickets to the EMA´s in Belfast. The only thing you had to do is write an email with your name, date of birth and your ID number. If you’d win, you had to take care of your own flight and stay. I was like; allright, let’s do it. I never win stuff, i have a test the day after, everybody is probably gonna email, how big is the chance i’m gonna win? BUT I WON. I won guys. I was studying, got the email on my phone. I was like; “sighhh please guys just leave me alone for one sec I NEED TO DAMN STUDY” But then i saw it was from erick@brunomars.com. OMFG. I freaked out, I didn’t knew what to do. BUT I MOTHERFUCKING WON.
Ofcourse my mom said no. Afterwards, I don’t blame her. I mean, Allowing me to fly on my own, with people I barely know, with an upcoming important test the day after, my mom had to borrow me €300,- cause I was basically broke. All quite a big deal. But oh man, at that time. I went mad, I went CRAZY. I’ll spare you the drama, but I can’t remember a moment in my life I went this crazy. I had to do this. I think I don’t have the words to describe how bad I wanted this. I dreamed about being at an awardshow since I was little, and I finally got the chance. FINALLY! I HAD TO DO THIS. The fact I was SO CLOSE to see Bruno Mars perform live at an award show, something big, I couldn’t believe it. I found Dutch hooligans on twitter who won tickets too and they said I could fly with them (still thankfull for that). After all, my dad said yes. He said “this is something you’ll remember when you’re like 60 years old” (I told them I would go with these Dutch hooligans I met at a concert before. To be honest. But I didn’t, I just spoke to them on twitter. My dad said; “If you didn’t knew these girls, I’d NEVER let you go” uhhhhhh “ofcourse dad, luckily I know them”)
I couldn’t believe it. I cried so hard. All these messages of you guys made me so happy. I Booked my flight (I had the last one available!), Packed my suitcase. I went to bed at 3 a.m., got up at 7 a.m., called my work I couldn’t make it (they called me crazy for going ‘alone’ but idgaf, they let me go) and the next thing I knew, it 9.30 a.m. I was at the train, on my way to the airport, to Belfast. I was SO excited, it all went so fast. I expected a weekend of studying really hard for this upcoming test. NOT THIS! I couldn’t eat, couldn’t listen to music. Nothing could calm me down. I didn’t knew where I was going, with who I was going, how the flight would be (i’ve only flown once before, with my parents), where I would sleep that night, who I would see live, the fact I was about to go to the EMA’s, I didn’t knew what to do.
But I met the other hooligans, they were all very nice. The flight went well, Belfast is beautiful. We saw EMA signs EVERYWHERE. On plains, walls, houses, lampposts, everywhere you were looking.
This is us arriving in Belfast, about 4 pm I think:

We were told ( don’t remember if it was the cab driver or twitter) Bruno would stay at Europa Hotel. We dumped our suitcases at the apartment, took the bus to the city. We didn’t knew where Europa Hotel was, and we wanted to know where Nando’s was (you know the hooligans love Nando’s) The bus driver drove us to the place we wanted to, which was very surprising. You don’t have to expect a bus driver in Holland to drive you to a particular place you need to be, with discount. People in Belfast are so nice! Anyway, we arrived at Europa Hotel, where it was already busy with a lot of fans. Most of them were bieberfans (oh man, geeze. those bieberfans. Catch you up later on that one) we waited there for a while. The securityguy told us the band was staying at the hotel, but Bruno wasn’t. We couldn’t believe it, Bruno staying at another hotel, without his friends, his band?
Europa Hotel:
Remember it was getting dark, the last time we ate was at breakfast, it was cold and we really needed to pee. But what if the hooligans would arrive at the hotel? We saw LMFAO arriving, so we had a littlebit hope. After a while we decided to go eat and pee real quick. So we went to the Subway. One of the hooligans casually looked outside of the window and saw Jason and Charles (another guy of the BMcrew) so we went outside as fast as we got in. They told us they were staying at Europa Hotel so we bought some food at the supermarket as fast as we could and returned back to Europa Hotel where after a while, we saw Jason & Charles again who told us this time the band wasn’t staying at the hotel. We didn’t know what to believe anymore, so after a while we started walking around the city. We saw crazy fans everywhere. Those bieberfans really are crazy. JB painted on their faces, going mad every time they saw a random young boy passing them or looking down from a hotel room. No voice left from all the screaming, slapping their friends of pure crazyness. Seriously, i feel sorry for Bieber.
Anyway, we saw the end of the soudcheck of Snow Patrol. I filmed a bit of it, you can watch it back here.
(afterwards i’m glad we saw their soundcheck ‘cause at the EMA’s they performed outside, so we weren’t able to see their concert ‘cause we were at the Arena) After the soundcheck we went back to our apartment, to get some sleep.
Sunday
We woke up early (not THAT early, just 9 a.m. or something) cause we were told to pick up our tickets at 1 p.m. but ofcourse we wanted to be there earlier, cause we didn’t wanted to be the last one in line so we arrived at the Odyssey Arena at 11.30 am.
This is the Odyssey Arena:

We looked around and saw all these Irish girls with the highest heels and shortest dresses I’ve ever seen. Man my feet already started hurting only looking at them. (afterwards we found out they got ‘red carpet tickets’ so they had to look chic while we were there with your sneakers lol) By the time we could get our tickets, of course, I had some issues. This woman behind the ticket window shooked ‘no’ with her head constantly. Which freaked me out, ofcourse. She couldn’t find me on the guestlist. Luckily, I could show her the emails on my phone, to prove I DID won. She found me on the list, she told me they registered me wrong. But I had my ticket. Tadaaaa:

So we were one of the first in line. It was like 1.30 p.m., and the waiting started. Just the queueing stuff, listening to some music, talking to some people (“wow, all the way from Holland? You guys are dedicated”) eating food (pizza Hawaii! Supporting Bruno in every we we can. …and we just wanted pizza Hawaii lol omnomnomnom):

While the time passed, we saw the line growing and growing. We were glad to be one of the first in line. We didn’t knew anything by the way. What should we do when the doors opened, where did we need to stand to have the best spot to see Bruno perform? We were told there would be 2 stages, one for the awards and one for the performances. Ofcourse we decided to stand at the stage with the performances. The doors opened around 6 pm, which was really stressful. The security told us we were NOT allowed to run so we had to walk. But imagine all this excited people who want to get in so bad to have the best spot walking, that’s impossible. Imagine seeing a shuffling crowd, pushing each other and stuff. With screaming security ‘DO NOT RUN, DO NOT RUN!!!!’ You could feel the pressure, the stress. But we made it safely, front row, all of us!! We were so happy. We had the best place, the best view. This was our view before it all started:

We were so close, we could see the planning this cameraguy had. We were all excited we could see the order of performers and the fact Bruno was the third one who would perform.
I asked the cameraguy if I could have it when the show ended, so he gave it to me afterwards. This is a pic:

Because I asked him this paper, the cameraguy gave me the script before I all started. That’s when we found out Bruno would perform Marry You, so we freaked out, we couldn’t wait any longer:

We waited inside till 9 pm, we saw the red carpet on a big screen for a while, without any sound. Then there was a guy to ‘warm us up’ and to film the crowd clapping an cheering and stuff.
Then it all started.
I don’t have pics of the show because i didn’t had my camera with me (i thought we weren’t allowed to bring it with us), my camera on my phone is just crap in i simply wanted to enjoy the whole show, i knew MTV would film it all anyway!
We got a Coldplay bracelet when we got in the arena, they said it would do something ‘special’ at their performance. So we saw the bracelets lighting up. I looked behind me and saw the whole arena lighting up in different colours, it was so beautiful. I really shed a tear, I couldn’t believe this was all happening to me, I was actually at the motherfucking EMA’s.
I think I don’t have to tell you guys about the show, y’all probably watched it more than once. It was so amazing to see it all happen live. Bruno Mars was great. While Lady Gaga was receiving an award, all drama and crying and stuff, he was already on stage with the band. Rehearsing his little dances with Phil. He recognized the hooligans I was with (they saw/met him more than once. Lucky people!!) Phil and Bruno waved at us. The performance was amazing. Fuck those confetti thingy’s falling down, I wanted to sing along but everything was stuck in my mouth, lol. Same with the balloons, I wanted to dance and stuff, but the balloons destroyed everything, even the view. On TV it looks all nice, but it wasn’t handy at all. But it was awesome. Ofcourse it was the best performance of the whole show.
It was amazing to see everything happening in reallife. Seeing all those backstage people puncture the balloons like crazy to keep everything in schedule while Bruno was performing, painting Lady Gaga’s moon while everybody at home was watching the commercials, those kind of things. When there were commercials, this guy kept showing up to keep us excited and stuff, we sang karaoke. Now I understand why they show commercials so often, and show the nominated artist so often, show some tapes like the tribute to Amy Winehouse (ofcourse to remind her) cause they simply need the time to get everything ready, clean everything up, create new stuff on stage.
I was so glad I finally got the chance to see Jessie J perform life. As you might know I love her music so I was really excited for that one, she was amazing.
Selina Gomez’ performance was crap (sorry Selinafans), the gig was all playback. It looked so weird! Disappointing.
Even Justin Bieber was ok, he can actually sing live, and the dancers were great! The whole band was like 20 years older than he was, lol.
Queen was awesome, Adam Lambert is really good live. All those fire bursting out of the stage was really hot, I was shocked everytime they did the fire thingy lol, it was HOT.
And then it all ended. It went so fast! I was like; it’s already over? whut? I was so so so blown away. Still couldn’t believe i saw everything in reallife, what i usually watch on TV.
This is a pic of the arena after the show:

So after the show, we ate something real quick and went to Europa Hotel. We were told there would be the afterparty for all the artists. By the time we got there, it was really busy. But we had the chance to see Brian May, Katy Perry, Jessie J, Shannon Leto (30 Seconds To Mars), LMFAO, Adam Lambert, …do I forget someone? (click on an artist to see a video I made!) But we were waiting for particular people, ofcourse. We didn’t saw them for a while. While talking about get some sleep, one of the hooligans saw a cab with the hornigans & Kenji in it. So we were like kagjpaeoijpfoijagposijopaigjapofi go go go! And we met them. It all went so fast, didn’t had much time to say something so we told them their performance was great and he was like ‘glad you enjoyed the show’. the hornigans said something about taking a picture with all of them, but we were busy taking a pic already and this securityguy kept saying they should go. so it all went really fast but at least i got this and i’m happy!
After we met them, we went to our apartment, cause we had to get up early for our flight. I think we slept 3 or 4 hours, got to the airport, back to Amsterdam. On the airport we bought some Irish newspapers with some pics of Bruno in it:

In ‘The Daily Mirror’, Bruno said:
“It’s been an incredible weekend. This place has some incredible scenery and the food is amazing. I think I’ve put on 10 pounds since I came here.”
And now I’m here. Behind my desk, typing this all down. I still can’t believe it, it all happened so fast. Still didn’t got the time to realize it all. By the time I got home, I had to study ‘cause the next day I had this important test. But now I have the time, and now i’m slowly starting to realize it all, starting to remember small things. I hope I wrote everything down, hope I didn’t forget a thing. I was SO lucky for winning that ticket, I still can’t believe it, I’m so thankful.
It was the best weekend of my whole life, by far. I think it was all meant to be, the way it happened. You know, winning a ticket that late, booking a the last ticket for a flight that ‘cheap’, having the chance to be at the EMA’s, a dream come true. I am glad I met the Dutch hooligans I went with, glad I could go with them. I had a great time with them. I hope they had a great time with me too.
So… This blog turned out bigger than I thought it would be. Yes, I made work of this blog. But as I told you, I don’t want to forget a thing about what happened. If you think it was too big, deal with it. If you’ve read it all, thank you so much for reading!! (9/11/’11)
Edit:
GUYS I PASSED THAT TEST HAHAHAHAHA i passed it! i don’t have to fear for my study anymore, i can continue it now. hahahaha i love the fact i just proved everybody wrong. “Going to the EMA’s with an important test the day after? LOL just say goodbye to your study” I PASSED IT.
See? i proved my mom, my friends but most of all myself if you REALLY REALLY want something (i wanted to go to the EMA’s SOOOO BAD and i realllyyyyy needed to pass that test) you can do it. If you have a goal and you work really hard for it, you can do it.
When people told me this i always was like; yeah bullshit. but it’s true. i’m so glad i went to the EMA’s, that my dad let me go. So glad i could prove them all i CAN do this. (22/11/’11)
